The official fee everyone pays
The UKIPO charges an official filing fee for one class of goods or services, with an additional official fee per extra class. That fee goes to the government regardless of who files. Everything above it is professional cost, and that is where the market splits.
The three ways the market charges
Cheap filing websites charge little because they do little: no conflict search worth the name, no specification drafting, no one professionally accountable when an objection arrives. Traditional firms charge £1,500 to £3,500 on hourly rates, and the meter keeps running if anything goes wrong. This practice charges £555 all-inclusive for one class, official fee included, no VAT, with the specification drafted by a solicitor and a free conflict search before you commit. Additional classes are £245 each.
Why fixed beats hourly for trademarks
A trademark application is a definable piece of work with a definable risk profile. Hourly billing converts that certainty into your uncertainty.
